New French links on Aer Arann summer timetable

Aer Arran’s summer timetable has seen the airline launch a number of routes to Lorient and Nantes airports in France, providing links to the Brittany region.

The Irish regional airline will begin a weekly service, operating on Saturday, between Lorient and Cork, Galway and Waterford, which will begin on May 12. A service between Lorient and Kerry will begin on June 23.

The Nantes to Cork and Bristol services will begin on May 19, and operate twice a week on Tuesday and Saturday, while the Nantes to Cardiff service will operate on Saturday from June 23.

Colin Lewis, of Aer Arann, said: “The strong passenger demand experienced on our French routes during summer 2006 is indicative of the popularity of Brittany as a holiday destination for Irish and UK passengers and as such we are delighted to be increasing our network of French routes for next year.

“Nantes and Lorient are central to popular tourist areas such as the Atlantic Coast, Brittany, Anjou and the Vendée and as such make ideal touring bases for holiday makers who want to visit this region of France.”

Aer Arann operated a number of routes between the two French airports and the UK and Ireland in the summer, but this will be the first time it provides a link to France from Bristol.

Tony Hallwood, of Bristol airport, said: “This new direct service to Nantes will provide excellent business and leisure links between the north west of France and the Bristol region, whilst we expect that this service will also attract increasing numbers of French visitors to explore our historic cities of Bristol and Bath.”

Aer Arann’s full summer timetable is yet to be published.
